A lovely moment in the film is when Jackie talks with Ruby about their intimate feelings in a mum-and-daughter conversation.
Ruby asks her mum, “Do you ever wish I was deaf? '' highlighting the communication problems between deaf parents and their CODA children.
In English, the formula I WISH PLUS A COMBINATION OF VERB TENSES
expresses wishes for our future or complaints.
I WISH + SUBJECT + WOULD/WOULDN’T + INFINITIVE
expresses a complaint about a behaviour you disagree with. Example: “I wish the dog would stop barking”.
Now write new wishes that show the speaker’s complaints.
